Sammy Al-Asmar
Sammy Al-Asmar (@ibn.said) is a 25-year-old product designer based in San Francisco who explores materiality and visual storytelling.
Growing up in Tennessee and having a deep appreciation for graphic form, he repurposes salvaged personal photography from the South and hand-drawn sketches to create compelling visual compositions. His work is an ongoing experiment in recontextualizing images—blurring the line between past and present, digital and analog, structure and spontaneity.
He finds inspiration in the imperfections of found materials, embracing texture, distortion, and abstraction. His process often involves layering, deconstructing, and reconstructing elements to uncover new narratives and unexpected aesthetic outcomes.
While his professional experience is primarily industry-based, focusing on brand identity, his graphic explorations serve as personal exercises that test his sensibilities and help him develop innovative, emotionally resonant experiences—whether in digital interfaces, physical objects, or hybrid media.
